Christians: why should anyone respect you?

Respect is earned and you don't deserve it either but it is still given to you simply because God requires it of us. If you don't like the thought that we do things for some reward in heaven, then mores the pity, because people do deserve and work towards getting rewards. That's just the way the cookie crumbles, on earth as it is in heaven, so get over it.
