Do you think Mexico would have been better today if the French landed there first instead of the Spanish?

I heard that in Canada the French allied with the Indians and learned from them instead of killing them off. The Aztecs had a hard work ethic and mandatory universal education and a big and powerful empire, do you think the French would have decided to align themselves with the Aztecs teach them their own technologies and trade and hence keep Mexico's indigenous culture and peoples alive while boosting their development? Or on the flip side do you think the human sacrifice would be too much for them and they would kill of the Indians and force them to adopt the caste system that way just like in Mexico today the indians would be poor and the whites would be rich causing a big disparity between the rich and the poor?
