Why did hitler stop at dunkirk?

he came across the British passport control at the English Channel ,and was refused entry because he had no passport and no visitors visa ,in other words the British Army,Navy and especially the Royal Air Force kicked his *** back to Germany.The German air force were not good enough to beat the British air force,in spite of them having more aeroplanes than the British.
